Adrenal Fatigue

Lisa specialises in Adrenal &Thyroid health issues. Both are interrelated and always assessed when clients presents in her clinic.

Definition of Adrenal Fatigue:   The sub-optimal functioning of the adrenal glands: –At rest, under stress & in response to constant, intermittent or sporadic demands.

Adrenal fatigue is not a disease per se, but a condition or title given to a collection of symptoms that primarily involves the adrenal glands & the altering levels of its hormones Cortisol & DHEA.

As there is also an interaction between these hormones, and our sex & thyroid hormones, adrenal health is imperative for the smooth and complete functioning of our total health & well being.

For example, thyroid hormones are in charge of our metabolism or our energy production, which in turn helps regulate our body temperature. You need healthy thyroid function for healthy adrenals & you need healthy adrenals for a healthy thyroid. One cannot function without affecting the other! The same is said for our sex hormones. You have to have healthy adrenal and thyroid glands for healthy sex hormones. This is one of the many reasons why stressed and tired people struggle with fertility (see Fertility section). Adrenal fatigue is also linked to many other health concerns; it’s a quiet epidemic affecting millions of both men and women worldwide!
